2023 Alabama Fall Preview: Team 5 Evaluations

We had a fantastic day of action on Sunday at the Alabama Fall Preview. During drills, gameplay, and other sessions, our coaches and staff were closely evaluating all the action.

Here’s what our coaches and staff had to say about Team 5:

RELATED: Top performers, Part I | Part II | Ten additional standouts

Team 1 | Team 2 Team 3 | Team 4

Fred Derrick, 2025 PG, Buckhorn: The reigning state champion from Buckhorn was one of the top performers from the event. Read what we had to say about his phenomenal day here.

Luke Stephens, 2024 CG, Fort Payne: Stephens has a knack for scoring the basketball — just ask anyone that played Fort Payne last season. While he was able to go get a bucket when he needed, the senior also showed quality vision that led to good passes. Stephens excels with the ball in his hands and will be a prospect that non-D1 schools monitor this season.

Bryant James, 2025 CG, Florence: James shot the lights out and was one of the best players in the gym. He landed on our top performers list.

Carson McKenney, 2026 PF, Thompson: There’s a lot to like about what McKenney could be in the future. The 6-foot-6 sophomore has a nice set of soft hands to go along with his nimble feet. He passed well for a big man and even made some long range shots from deep. McKenney still has plenty of developing to do, but there’s a lot to like about the young big man.

Luke Hood, 2025 CG, Priceville: Hood provided energy for his team with his motor and upbeat style of play. The 6-foot guard understood when to slow things down or keep his foot on the gas. He also had no problem making the extra pass for a hockey assist. On a team filled with shooters, Hood fit right in, as he made his fair share of shots on the day.

Isaiah Fuller, 2024 F, Austin: There was no denying Fuller at the Alabama Fall Preview. His motor and tenacity helped play himself onto our top performers list.

Charlie Sims, 2025 F, Homewood: Sims had a nice showing in all facets of the game. The strong, 6-foot-5 forward has a nice skill-set. He shot the ball and passed well on the perimeter, helping his team in either aspect. The junior showed a high basketball IQ and excelled as a rebounder. Sims is a nice we will definitely monitor during the high school season.

Ethan Moody, 2027 G, Altamont: Moody competed from the beginning of drills till the last game of 5-on-5 play. The freshman guard was a bundle of energy throughout the day, resembling a jitterbug on the floor. He handled pressure well and did a nice job with the ball in his hands.

Trindon Manior, 2026 CG, Opelika: Manior came out of nowhere and was one of the biggest stories from camp. He was named one of the camp standouts.

Maximus Teague, 2027 G, Buckhorn: If you need someone to get downhill, there’s a good chance Teague would be your guy. The 5-foot-7 guard played like a bowling ball all day, bouncing off of defenders and rumbling to wherever he wanted on the floor. The freshman wasn’t afraid of a gym full of older players.
