Fall Preview Spotlight: Jalyn McCreary, 2019

The best player in Georgia not to play varsity last year, Jalyn McCreary, is ready to take out his frustrations for lost time on his opponents this season at Kennesaw Mountain.

“It was really hard because it set me back because the competition level is way different from JV, now I get to play with the big boys now,” explained the 6-foot-7 junior forward.

With a wasted high school campaign in the rearview mirror, McCreary quickly went to work in the spring and summer months playing with the Southern Stampede.

“The EYBL is really hard. It really got me prepared for the high school season and it gets you better looks for college. I got three offers this summer (Hofstra, Florida Gulf Coast and UMass).”

The high ceiling lefty has started hearing from High Major programs as well, naming interest from Georgia Tech, Georgia, Murray State, Missouri, Western Kentucky and Clemson. McCreary has already visited Georgia Tech, South Carolina and Georgia.

McCreary will have a chance to test himself in region play against a nationally renowned 2019 wing, McEachern’s Isaac Okoro, along with the rest of the Indian frontcourt.

“I’m up to the challenge. I’m going to have to guard the biggest person, I’m the tallest player on our team, so I might have to guard Babatunde Akingbola.”
