Michael Durr chooses South Florida

Since taking the reigns at South Florida, head coach Brian Gregory has made it a focal point to recruit the state of Georgia, as he and his staff are very familiar with the state dating back to their tenure at Georgia Tech.

The Peach State brought more good news to South Florida on Monday evening as Atlanta native Michael Durr announced his commitment to the Bulls. Durr spent time at Westlake (GA) before transferring to Oldsmar Christian last year.

"I was really comfortable with the whole staff," Durr told HoopSeen.com. "I've known them for the longest and I love the plan they have in place for me."

Durr, a 6-foot-9 center, has the opportunity to play early for Gregory and the Bulls, as they are in the process of rebuilding their roster. That opportunity was pivotal in his decision to make his pledge.

"They plan for me to play early. I like their plan of developing me and getting me to the next level, too."

Durr is a very important pickup for South Florida because of the lack of size in the South. As Gregory and his staff started their rebuild, identifying quality size was a priority. Durr brings upside and potential, along with a hard nose and the ability to eat space in the paint.

Durr chose the Bulls over scholarship offers from Georgetown, Maryland, and Memphis.

He joins fellow Georgia native Rashun Williams in South Florida's 2018 recruiting class.
