Greenforest Christian (GA) big man Ikey Obiagu has surprisingly ended his recruitment and committed to Florida State and head coach Leonard Hamilton.

Obiagu has become known as one of the best shot blockers in the nation and should provide a presence to hold down the paint as a second line defender in Tallahassee over the next few years. He joins a loaded 2017 class of front court players for the Seminoles that includes Turk Gray and Wyatt Wilkes as well as guards Anthony Polite and Bryan Trimble.

The seven footer joins a line of big Florida State centers who have patrolled the middle in Tallahassee including Solomon Alabi, Boris Bojanovsky, and current seminoles Michael Ojo and Christ Koumadje.

He is currently ranked as the number 59 college prospect in the nation and the 9th best college prospect in a loaded class in the state of Georgia. He chose the Seminoles over offers from Baylor, Maryland, Auburn, Long Beach State, Georgia, and Georgia Tech among others.

Florida State is no stranger to the Peach State, having two front court players from Georgia currently on their roster in Phil Cofer (Whitewater) and Jarquez Smith (Jones County) as well as plucking now Denver Nuggets shooting guard Malik Beasley (St. Francis) from Georgia who spent one year in Tallahassee before moving on to the NBA.

Obiagu should be able to step in and provide an immediate impact on the defensive end of the floor. He has also shown signs of a developing offensive game on the block, and has a very high ceiling and potential for the Noles staff to bring out. This bolsters a Seminoles class that was ranked number 15 after national signing week in mid November.
