Glover, Mann, Spiller shine at Dodge Shootout

BRANDENTON, FL — On the second day of the Dodge Shootout, teams took to the court and went to work on Sunday on the campus of IMG Academy. Three players shined the brightest from the field.

Nevin Glover, SG, The Villages, 2019: Glover was the trending player of the day on Sunday. Built like a linebacker and wired like an old Big East player, Glover powered his way to the rim with his strength and toughness. For a 2019 player, he played with maturity and focus en route to the rim. A streaky shooter, Glover hit the three-pointers that were needed in some tight contests. He said he’s heard from Memphis, Illinois, Oklahoma, Butler, Clemson, Florida Gulf Coast, Central Florida and South Florida and it was easy to see why on Sunday.

Tre Mann, PG, The Villages, 2019: The 6-foot-2 guard did what he does oh so well. He orchestrated his team with his trademark pace. He saw Glover was in the appropriate zone and did a nice job of feeding the hot hand. When open shots presented themselves, he buried the buckets. Mann told HoopSeen.com that Tennessee, Florida, Memphis, South Florida and Central Florida have all been in to see him this fall. Georgia and Southern Cal are also in the picture, he said.

Evan Spiller, CG, Lakewood Ranch, 2018: The 6-3 primary point guard was the biggest surprise of the day. He played with great patience and understanding of the game. Spiller isn’t going to win any one on one athletic contests but his IQ allowed him to get buckets when buckets were needed and passes to the players that could convert easy scores. As the see players commit and eventually sign in November, guys like Spiller deserve a view by low-majors looking for a get-stuff-done type of player. He has the grades and a winning pedigree that warrant time spent at the Bradenton school. A number of non Division I schools are already in the mix and showing appropriate amounts of interest with Spiller.
