2017 #BOTS 16U TOP PERFORMERS: PART III

We continue our look at the top players from the 2017 Best of the South tournament. Here is part III of our top 16U performers.

RELATED: BOTS 16U I | BOTS 16U II

Antwan Burnett, Thunderstruck, 2020: Suiting up with Thunderstruck this weekend, the Alabama native was just another weapon for the loaded Florida crew. A tough and athletic wing, Burnett did a great job of keeping the defense on its toes with his ability to score at all 3 levels. He has improved his 3-point shooting over the past year and isn’t just a threat to attack the rim anymore. - Garrett Tucker

D.J. Burns: Burns continues to prove he is one of the most skilled big men in the Class of 2019. The 6-foot-8 lefty displayed a tremendous back-to-the-basket game, as he made a variety of moves to finish at the rim. Burns was an efficient finisher, but what was even more impressive was his ability to pass out of the post. He found shooters early and often during games, racking up a number of assists along the way. - Garrett Tucker

Mikey Dukes, Upward Stars, 2019: Dukes has consistently performed well at HoopSeen events, dating back to last year with the Upward Stars 15U team. Not much has changed as the stout point guard has made the jump to 16U and continues to excel. A 5-foot-10, 185-pound point guard, Dukes is extremely explosive and thrives off of contact at the rim. The rising junior plays like a bowling ball with his ability to get downhill and take bumps in traffic. Football may be his calling when all is said and done, but Dukes will be a quality point guard at the next level, too. - Garrett Tucker

Jamarhi Harvey, Upward Stars SE, 2019: A 6-5 2019 Point Guard, Harvey's size allows him to overpower most smaller guards. The Freedom Christian Academy star scored the ball very well at BOTS. SC State and Hampton have already extended offers to Harvey. He's also getting interest from College of Charleston, South Carolina, Illinois State, George Washington, and Presbyterian. - Bre Singleton

Jalen Jefferson, Atlanta Lightning, 2019: The Alcovy High School power forward had some really impressive scoring performances at BOTS. In a win over Carolina Clippers, Jefferson had 24 points to go along with double digit rebounds. He made his presence felt on both ends of the floor and dominated the paint. - Bre Singleton

Brandon Nicholas, Pro One Select Navy, 2019: Nicholas started #BOTS with a bang, as he scored 34 points on seven three-pointers to lead Pro One Select Navy to an opening night win. One of those shots from behind the arc was made at the buzzer to put Pro One over the top. Nicholas is a dangerous threat from the 3-point line and is hard to stop when he gets going. - Garrett Tucker
